Surface Water Management

GRM recognise that a major issue for many sites is the management of excess mine water produced as a result of dewatering activity.

Traditional disposal options to surface water bodies are no longer acceptable in many environments, in particular where there are disparages in groundwater qualities between the groundwater source and receptor body.

GRM staff have experience in assisting clients in managing these issues, including: water quality assessments of potential receptors facilitating negotiations with the regulatory authorities developing water balance models to better estimate disposal quantities developing and assessing alternative disposal/management options, including sub-surface disposal , evaporative disposal using existing facilities (e.g. disused pits) and engineered evaporation ponds, or water re-use
